Some of Oklahoma City's Top Areas for Young Professionals

While Oklahoma City may not be as well known for business as some of the bigger cities in the U.S., it has it's fair share of influential businesses and business leaders.  In this article we're going to highlight a few of the top areas for young professionals.  These are individuals who have established themselves not only in the world of business, but within their community as well.

North Oklahoma City

One of his biggest passions is working with new areas that are in development.  Many of these parts of Oklahoma City have struggled in recent years with drugs, crime, prostitution, and more.  These areas are traditionally rough, but are making a comeback.  They include areas around Downtown Oklahoma City like Paseo.

Bricktown

Bricktown, just to the east of downtown, used to be one of these rougher areas.  It started out as a warehouse district for the trains that continuously ran through the city.  When the train tracks were moved, Bricktown fell into disrepair.  Then developers moved in to attempt to rebuild the area and turn it into a destination for restaurants, nightlight, shopping, and even a minor league baseball team.

Now any visitor to the OKC area has heard about Bricktown.  This same approach is being used on other areas as well.

The Plaza District

Known for: Newlyweds and hip young singles
Places to See and Be Seen: Plaza Theatre, Oak & Ore, Bomb Shelter Studio & Gallery
The Plaza district was run down for years.  Crime was a big problem.  But with some investment the area has been turned around.  Now you can find pizza shops, ice cream stores, art galleries and more.  It's a safe place to walk any time of the day or night.

Roxy's Ice cream is a great place to take the kids for dessert after you've had a slice of pie (pizza) for dinner.  These great restaurants are all located in the Plaza district which is chalk full of great shopping and lots of things to do.

Crown Heights – Edgemere Heights

Known for: Upper Middle class families
Places to See and Be Seen: Red Rooster Bar & Grill, Picasso Café, Cheevers Café

Crown Heights – Edgemere Heights is an upscale neighborhood in the uptown area of Oklahoma City.  While it hasn't always been this way, the residents of this area are quite diligent about keeping this area both safe and quite beautiful.  Lawns are well taken care of, there are lots of flowers, people greet each other as they pass.  In essence it has the feel of a small town.

One of Crown Heights' biggest events is the picnic and parade that is held every year on the fourth of July.  It's quite celebration with hundreds of families turning out.

Automobile Alley

Known for: Young professionals
Places to See and Be Seen: Pelotón Wine Bar & Café, Hillbillies Po Boy & Oyster Bar, TapWerks Ale House & Cafe

Automobile Alley is quickly becoming one of the hottest spots in OKC.  It offers a wide variety of excellent restaurants, trendy night spots, and is relatively safe.  Young singles and couples can often be found out on patios and decks of the local watering holes engaged in deep conversations.

Once per month there is also a Shop Hop.  This is essentially a giant party that engulfs the entire neighborhood.  The scene is quite enjoyable and is a great place to meet young singles.

Oklahoma City is Up and Coming

These are only some of the new and exciting neighborhoods that are springing up around the metro area.  OKC has not always been known for class and sophistication.  But with so many businesses popping up in town and with so much young talent flocking to these jobs, the outlook continues to look good for these and other neighborhoods.

Here are a couple businesses you can expect to hear about in OKC.
